The Register

OSCR is responsible for keeping an accurate Register of Scottish Charities. The Scottish Charity Register is updated regularly and includes a comprehensive range of information about the activities and charitable purposes of Scotland’s charities.

Charity Accounts and constitutions

Scottish Charity Accounts and their explanatory documents (deeds of trust, memoranda and articles of association or constitutions) are not available from OSCR's website. This is because the public can request this information from the charity directly under s.23 (1) (a) and (b) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005. Please write to the charity direct to request the following:

  • a copy of the charity's latest statement of account
  • a copy of the charity's constitution.

The charity may make a small charge to cover copying and postage.

Charity Trustee details

OSCR does not keep a register of charity trustees.  Information on the serving trustees of a charity should be available from the trustees' report contained within the charity's annual report and accounts. Please write to the charity direct to request a copy.

Defaulting charities

OSCR publishes a list of charities that are in default in providing OSCR with required information.  You can search the list, which is updated on a monthly basis, here.
